Ideal for a first tour or for seasoned riders. Working from a central base in Scotland, we offer four days to enjoy Scotland’s wonderful landscapes, with a taste of the Northern Pennines, the Dales and the Lake District en route and riding home .
Dates: 4th to 10th July 2026
Our Scottish rides radiate out from our base in the town of Crieff. Each route includes a great mix of riding, from twisty A roads for the sporty types to adventurous single track for the natural explorers. Each day we can provide files for an alternative shorter route (80-100 miles) if you prefer less time on the bike and some time around the town and using the facilities of the nearby sister hotel.
Inevitably, this tour involves motorways at times, so riders must be on min 300cc bikes and motorway legal. Days can be switched around / shortened depending on the weather.
Day 1 approx 210 miles
Meeting at either Droitwich or Cannock (other meets up the M6 can be arranged) we’ll head north, mostly up the M6 but with a loop through the Lake district or the Dales for variety. We’ll overnight in Carlisle (buzzing place on a Saturday night).
NOTE. YOU ARE WELCOME TO MAKE YOUR OWN WAY AND MEET US AT THE HOTEL IF YOU PREFER.
Day 2 185 miles
Today takes us up the motorway for a while, then over the Moffat Hills, and north to our four night stop. Highlights include the Devil’s Beeftub, Talla Reservoir, St Mary’s Loch, The Kelpies, Kincardine bridges, and finally a lovely ride through Glendevon to arrive at our hotel. A homely 3* hotel, with full Scottish breakfast provided, and use of the gym, pool, steam room, sauna and spa bath at the 4* sister hotel nearby.
Day 3 215 miles
Big mileage today, to circumnavigate the Cairngorms on roads from wide and sweepy, to narrow and picturesque, but with amazing views. Today we pass through Glenshee and Lecht ski areas, Loch Insh, Drumochter Pass, the geographic centre of Scotland and plan lunch at a quirky cafe in Aviemore.
Day 4 188 miles
The eastern run, including Glen Almond, Kinclaven Bridge, Meikleour Hedges (world’s tallest!), Glen Isla, Firth of Tay views, Firth of Forth views, Palace of Falkland, Lomond Hills, the Ochils, Kinkell Bridge
Day 5 217 miles
Westwards we go, through Glencoe, the a run down the west coast before wandering over passes and looping round western sea lochs after which we re trace our steps back to Crief, with a planned coffee stop at a cafe with an interesting loo (If they haven't redecorated!)
Day 6 201 miles
Largely on A roads, until we cut into the North Pennines, running along Hadrians Wall for a little way, then across the moors to Teesdale, picking up High Force waterfall on our way to our last night.
Day 7
On our way home, we intend to cut SW through the Dales and across the Forest of Bowland before joining the motorway in the Preston area for the last run home.
Again, you are welcome to make your own way home from the hotel.
